The Best Time to Visit Los Cabos in 2026: A Month-by-Month Guide

Every month in Los Cabos has a case to make. The trick is matching the season to the trip you actually want — whales or wide-open pools, big-game fishing or quiet galleries. Here is the honest month-by-month picture, from a team that lives and works here all year.

December to April: the classic season

This is Cabo at its most famous: daytime highs around 25–28°C (77–82°F), almost zero rain, and the whale migration in full swing. Whale season officially runs December 15 to April 15, with January through March the most active months on the water.

The trade-off is demand. Christmas, New Year, and North American spring break are the busiest weeks of the year — villas book out months ahead and dinner reservations matter. If you want this season without the crowds, aim for mid-January or the last two weeks of April.

May and June: the local favourite

Ask people who live here when they'd tell friends to come, and most say May or June. The winter crowds have gone home, the sea has warmed up for swimming and snorkelling, and villa rates ease off their winter peak. Days are hot but dry, and sunsets stretch past 8 pm.

July to September: hot, quiet, and great value

Summer is real desert heat — often 33–35°C (91–95°F) — softened by pool time and sea breezes. It is also hurricane season in the Eastern Pacific; direct hits are rare, but September is statistically the wettest month. What you get in exchange: the lowest villa rates of the year, warm water for divers, and beaches you can have nearly to yourself.

If you travel in these months, book flexible flights and let our concierge keep an eye on the forecast — storms are usually visible days out.

October and November: the sweet spot returns

October dries out fast, and November may be the single best all-round month: warm sea, calm weather, thinner crowds, and the town's biggest events. In 2026, the World Wide Technology Championship marks its 20th year in Los Cabos the first week of November, bringing PGA TOUR golf and a week of food and festivities with it.

    Our short answer

    • Whales and perfect weather: mid-January to March
    • Best balance of warmth, price, and quiet: May, June, or November
    • Lowest rates and hottest pool days: July and August
    • Big events and PGA golf: early November
