How Far Ahead Should You Book a Cabo Villa? A 2026-27 Timing Guide

The most common email we get isn't about pools or chefs — it's some version of 'is it too early to book for Christmas?' (No.) With more travellers booking longer and pricier trips in 2026 and demand for large villas outpacing supply, timing matters more than it used to. Here's the honest picture from our own reservation calendars.

The booking windows that actually matter

    • Christmas and New Year's: 10-12 months ahead for large villas. The 4+ bedroom homes for the holidays are the first thing to sell every year — many rebook before the previous group checks out.
    • March break: 6-9 months ahead. Canadian and US spring breaks stack into the same three weeks, and family-sized villas go first.
    • Whale season (January-March): 4-6 months ahead for the best choice, especially weekends and view homes.
    • May, June, November: 2-3 months is usually comfortable — the sweet-spot months for weather and value.
    • Summer (July-September): most flexible. Great rates, real availability, even fairly last-minute.

    Why large villas behave differently

A two-bedroom condo has substitutes; an eight-bedroom estate doesn't. When a group needs twelve beds for a specific week, there are only a handful of homes in the destination that work, so those calendars fill on a completely different schedule than the rest of the market.

If your group is six or more people and your dates are fixed — a wedding, a milestone birthday, school holidays — treat the villa like the flight: book it the moment you're sure.

    Booking direct buys you flexibility

Booking directly with us costs less than the same home on a listing platform — no service fee stacked on top — and it means you're talking to the team that actually manages the house before you commit. We'll tell you plainly if a different week or a different home fits your group better.

It also matters after you book: direct guests deal with us for changes, early check-ins, and concierge planning, not a help-desk queue.

    The short version

Book holidays a year out, whale season by early fall, shoulder months a season ahead, and summer whenever you like. And if the dates you want are gone, ask us anyway — calendars move, and we keep a list.
