The best weddings we see in Los Cabos don't happen in ballrooms. They happen on villa terraces — thirty people, a mariachi trio arriving by surprise, dinner under string lights, and the Sea of Cortez doing the decorating. Here's how the villa version actually comes together.

The timeline

• 9–12 months out: lock the villa (big-group homes book first), set the guest count honestly, and hire a local planner — Cabo's wedding industry is deep and professional
• 6 months: legal decision — most couples do the paperwork at home and hold a symbolic ceremony here; Mexican civil ceremonies are possible with more admin
• 3 months: menu tasting trip (the best excuse for a scouting weekend you'll ever have)
• 2 weeks: final counts, welcome bags, a group WhatsApp for guests
• Day of: your only job is showing up

What a villa gives you that a resort can't

• The whole place is yours — no strangers in the background of the photos
• Real Baja food from a chef you chose, not a banquet menu
• The party ends when you say (within the neighbourhood's quiet hours — your planner will know)
• The wedding-week feeling: family under one roof, coffee together the morning after
• Often meaningfully better value per guest than resort packages

Honest advice

• Confirm the villa's event policy and guest cap in writing before anything else — including amplified-music rules
• Budget for rentals (tables, glassware, dance floor) — villas host beautifully but aren't warehouses
• October, November, and April give you golden light without peak-summer heat
